About FIRST®

FIRST® stands for For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology; it is much more than a forum or another STEM related project for schools and teams to compete.  FIRST® is a community based progressive program that aides in the development of team and business skills.  FIRST®'s progressive program starts with Jr. FLL, where kindergartners to third graders complete a research project and Lego design.  The FIRST® program continues through high school where there is an aggressive 6-week build season followed by 3-day regionals that allow teams to compete for awards involving the team's community and the physical robot.  FIRST®'s mission is to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders, by engaging them in exciting mentor-based programs that build science, engineering and technology skills, that inspire innovation and that foster well-rounded life capabilities indluding self-confidence, communication, and leadership.

About Us

Sonoran Storm Robotics' mission is to assist and inspire teammates and our community creating innovative leaders who help their community and others through team involvement.  We aspire to further FIRST® morals by starting FIRST® teams in our surrounding community.  As a team we attempt to impact our community and leave a lasting impact on others around us.  With in the FIRST® Robotics Competition we hope to make a name for ourselves on and off the field as a team and individually with our community involvement and with increasing awareness of science, engineering, and technology by documenting the design process and mentoring future FIRST® teams with our newfound knowledge of the capabilities of FIRST® both on and off of the field.
